Nettle Lemonade

Nettle or Stinging Nettle is one of the most nutrient dense plants on the planet. The root, seeds, leaf, and stems have been used for food, healing, and even textiles! Traditionally, the long stems with their stinging leaves were used in a therapy called, urtification. Urtification consisted of “whipping,” the skin of a patient with the stinging nettle to increase blood circulation and relieve pain…could you imagine?

Nettle is packed with essential minerals and vitamins. Some herbalist even compare it to a multi-vitamin, because it has such an abundance of these vital nutrients. Nettle shows support for joint pain, seasonal allergies, mineral deficiencies, blood glucose management, kidney, urinary, and bladder support, and even skin issues.  Nettle leaf tea may be supportive for the whole family 🙂

Try this:

Nettle-Aid

2 Tbsp. dried Nettle leaf

3 cups of boiling water

1 Tbsp. of honey

Fresh lemon juice

Fresh ginger (optional)

  1. Pour the boiling water over the dried nettle in a tea strainer.
  2. Allow this to steep with the fresh ginger (if using) for 15 minutes.
  3. Add the honey and lemon.
